India Green Ammonia Power Generation, ChemCorp Industries has signed three new agreements with three Japanese companies – Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Sojitz Corp and IHI Corp – to explore decarbonisation initiatives involving green hydrogen and ammonia. One of the agreements is to jointly develop an integrated green ammonia supply chain, both upstream and downstream, in Singapore and Asia Pacific.
Who manufactures green ammonia in India
It has been reported that Singapore-based ‘Sempcorp Industries’ has entered into a memorandum of understanding with two Japanese companies to manufacture green ammonia in India and supply it to Japan.
Sempcorp Green Hydrogen Pvt Ltd, a unit of Sempcorp Industries, has tied up with Japan’s Sojitz Group and Kyushu Electric Power to manufacture and supply green ammonia in India.
Green ammonia is a clean fuel suitable for generating electricity and powering production ships. Ammonia is said to be a key green solution to Japan’s energy supply becoming carbon-free and net-zero by 2050.
In this regard, these companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding. Under this agreement, green ammonia production plants will be set up in India and the product produced here will be supplied to Japan.
Another deal is to explore the possibility of jointly building a production facility in India that can produce at least 250,000 tonnes of green ammonia a year and supply it to Japan. Green ammonia is a low-carbon fuel that can be used to transport hydrogen and fuel ships.
